USDC Thursday Recap And Hurricane Update

United States Dance Championships finished up an incredible night of competition on Thursday in Orlando, FL, as dancers in the Professional Ballroom, Rising Star Latin, and American Rhythm divisions competed for the title of America's best.

In arguably the most heated matchup of the entire competition, Victor and Anastasia, the 2017 British Open champions, danced against longtime rivals and current U.S. and world champions Arunas and Katusha in the Professional Ballroom division. Although both couples danced beautifully with technique and charm, Arunas and Katusha swayed the judges with their performance and held on to their title of national champions.

In the American Rhythm division, we saw the defending champions, Nazar and Irina, battling it out against a number of strong competitors, namely Andre and Natalie Paramonov, who have been right on their heels. Yet Nazar and Irina danced hard and it paid off. They repeated as the American Rhythm national champions as the Paramonovs came in second.

With Hurricane Irma bearing down on Florida, USDC has had to make some changes to the schedule that will be affecting our live stream. Many of the divisions originally scheduled for Saturday night have been moved up to Friday in hopes of getting as many categories judged before dancers and crew are forced to evacuated. The hurricane has affected some couples' ability to even get to the competition, including beloved Latin couple Troels and Ina.

Here is the updated schedule for Friday's live stream at USDC.
