Round two of the NCAA D2 football playoffs is complete! With eight games come and gone, the matchups are met for round three in just one short week.

Round two was chaos for lack of better words. Newberry upsets West Florida, UT Permian Basin survives after an overtime battle and UIndy is upset by Minnesota State. Some of the similar constants are the same though. Ferris State wins to keep an undefeated record alive, Harding beats Pittsburg State and UAlbany holds on to defeat Benedict. 

Round three matchups are quickly approaching with games slated to kickoff at various times on Dec. 6. 

The round-three matchups will look like this: 

• Kutztown vs. Frostburg State
• Ferris State vs. Minnesota State
• Albany State vs. Newberry 
• Harding vs. UT Permian Basin

Strong Defense Secures UTPB Victory

UT Permian Basin 21, Western Colorado 15

After one period of overtime play, the Falcons of UT Permian Basin will advance to the third round of the NCAA Football Playoffs. Two late Western Colorado penalties were able to aid the Falcon defense in securing a third and out to claim a victory.

The Falcons of UTPB lead in overtime 21-15 after Kanon Gibson completes a short pass to Jaylon Tillman for the score. Western Colorado will have once change to respond. The PAT attempt for UTPB was blocked. 

UT Permian Basin and Western Colorado Head To Overtime

UT Permian Basin 15, Western Colorado 15 

The UTPB Falcons and the Western Colorado Mountaineers are headed to overtime. All tied up at 15 and this game is wild! Stay tuned here for all of the action!

West Florida Falls To Newberry

West Florida 17, Newberry 24

In another shock in the D2 football playoffs, once seeded No. 2 West Florida has been upset by three-seeded Newberry. 

The Argonauts struggled converting on offense in the contest, tallying 473 yards of total offense on the day. 

Newberry tallied 464 yards of offense in the victory and will move on to face Albany State in the third round. 

Harding Stays Alive!

Harding 37, Pittsburg State 21

Harding stays alive to advance to round three of the NCAA D2 playoffs after defeating Pittsburg State, 37-21. Harding tallied 455 total yards in the victory. 

The round three opponent is still to be decided for Harding. They will get the winner of Western Colorado and UT Permian Basin for the round three matchup.  

Minnesota State Upsets UIndy

Minnesota State 35, UInday 27

In a shock in the D2 football plays, Indianapolis has fallen to Minnesota State suffering a 35-27 loss in the second-round of play. 

Minnesota State secured the victory despite only tallying 438 total yards of offense on the day compared to UIndy's 489 yards. 

Minnesota State will take on Ferris State in round three. 

Albany State Holds On To Defeat Benedict

Nail-biters tend to be a common trend in the matchups today as Albany State holds on to defeat Benedict, 14-12. 

The Golden Rams tallied 376 total yards in the victory. 

Ferris State Stays Undefeated And Bests Ashland

Ferris State 56, Ashland 24

In a game that was once a back and forth battle, the Ferris State Bulldogs come out on top. The now 12-0 Bulldogs will advance to round three of the NCAA D2 playoffs.

Kutztown tallies 600 yards of total offense in the victory over Assumption. 

Frostburg Stays Alive!

Frostburg State 23, California (PA) 21

In a nail-biter until the very end, it's Frostburg State who stays alive to advance to the third-round of the NCAA D2 football playoffs!  A made field goal from Harrison Fritz seals the deal. 

Frostburg tallies 373 yards of offense in the victory!

In the opening minutes of the Ferris State and Ashland game, the Eagles of Ashland are making their presence known early but taking a 14-0 lead. 7:19 remains in the first quarter. 

In the Albany State and Benedict matchup, the Golden Rams strike first. 9:19 remains in the opening quarter.

The Golden Bears are having no visible struggles heading into the final minutes of the opening half. Up 21-3 over Assumption, Kutztown is moving and grooving. In the other 12 PM ET matchup, it is a closer fought battle as Frostburg State and California (PA) is all tied up at 7!
