Stony Brook Seawolves Football So Far This Season
The Seawolves had a banner year in 2024, going 8-4 under Head Coach Billy Cosh and putting together the pieces after a winless season in 2023. The last season of long-time Stony Brook coach Chuck Priore.
Although they've started the season with two losses, the Seawolves are hungry to prove that they're better than they're record after a 0-42 loss against FBS opponent San Diego State and a 17-31 loss against CAA rival, the top ten ranked Rhode Island Rams.
This weekend, their sights are set on the Rams from the Bronx.
In the game against Rhode Island, the Seawolves led early but were overtaken quickly by 17 unanswered points. It wasn't until the fourth quarter that Stony Brook's Chris Zellous would run it into the endzone and close the gap to just one touchdown, but it was already too late.
Roland Dempster led with 201 total yards on 28 carries and two catches. Zellous went 12-20 for 137 yards and showed some bright spots on the ground, contributing his own 83 rushing yards.
Fordham Rams Football So Far This Season
After going 2-10 in 2024, Head Coach Joe Conlin continues the work in his 8th season, trying to get Fordham football back to where it was in 2022 when they went 9-3 and extended their season all the way to a close loss in the FCS Championship game against the University of New Hampshire.
The Rams started their season on the road at Boston College, where they struggled to generate any momentum on either side of the ball in a 10-66 loss.
Last week, Fordham put on a much better showing in the home opener against Monmouth. The Rams started out strong, but couldn't keep up in the second half as the top-25 ranked Hawks pushed forth. James Conway's career high 20 tackles were a highlight, alongside junior quarterback Gunnar Smith who threw for 382 yards, 27-49 with 3 touchdowns.
